Maine Coon Breed; The Maine Coon is the largest of all domesticated cats. However, its size does not begat any greater aggressive traits. The cat is known kindly as the gentle giant and is usually playful and affectionate. Ancestors of the Maine Coon were European. The breed closely resembles the Norwegian Forest Cat. In due course the cat found its way over to the United States (the route is still being argued about). It is one of the oldest breeds of cat in the US and is mostly found in Maine, hence its name.
