Feline Hero: Cat Defends Dog from Coyote Attack
In a remarkable display of bravery, a cat named Binx saved her canine companion, Oakley, from a dangerous coyote attack in Edmond, Oklahoma. Owner Lane Dyer recounts how the six-year-old Havanese dog was outside for a bathroom break when a coyote pounced on her. Overwhelmed and in distress, Oakley found herself in a dire situation as a second coyote joined the assault.
Just when it seemed hopeless, Binx, a black cat who had been a part of the family since she was a two-month-old stray, sprang into action. Without hesitation, she charged at the coyotes, successfully scaring them away and saving Oakley from further harm. Unfortunately, the attack left Oakley injured, with significant blood loss from her chest and side.
Rushed to a nearby veterinary clinic, there were initial concerns about the possibility of amputation for Oakley’s leg. Fortunately, the vets were able to treat her injuries, and she is now on the road to recovery. After the incident, the Dyer family reviewed their security footage and were astounded to witness Binx’s courageous act.
Lane Dyer expressed his admiration for Binx's bravery, stating, “I was kind of inspired by it, quite frankly. It was inspiring to see just our little outdoor cat jump at two coyotes that were attacking this little dog who she loves and run them off.” The bond between the two animals shines brightly, proving that even across species, love and loyalty know no bounds.
