Just days before shooting was set to begin, the team faced a serious financial hurdle. "We were less than a week out, and we lost almost $6 million on a gap financing deal," Stahelski recalled. The crew was independently funding the project, but a major investor fell through at the last minute, leaving them scrambling to secure the needed funds.

Key figures like Keanu Reeves and co-director David Leitch had already put their own money into the project, and producer Basil Iwanyk maxed out several credit cards in a desperate attempt to keep the movie alive. But as the clock ticked down, it seemed inevitable that the production would have to shut down.
