Kate Moss Walks the Victoria's Secret Runway

The 50-year-old supermodel walked the Victoria's Secret runway for the first time alongside her daughter Lila Moss. Back in the 90s, when the first Victoria's Secret Fashion Show took place, Kate Moss was the poster girl of the grunge movement, smoking backstage at Isaac Mizrahi shows and hitting red carpets with minimal makeup and a messy bun alongside Johnny Depp.

By the early 2000s, when the event had transformed into a televised spectacle, Victoria's Secret Fashion Show wasn't really on Moss's radar. Reflecting on the winged glamazon army that helped pull millions of viewers during her peak, Moss says, "Of course, I watched a bit of it. But I wasn’t really a lingerie girl... I wasn’t a Victoria’s Secret girl."

Tonight in New York, everything changed, as the lingerie craze returned for the first time in six years, in a truly blockbuster style. The show was crowned by Moss’s appearance.
Amid Doutzen Kroes losing a stiletto and Cher storming the stage with a powerful performance, Moss emerged solo from the mist, walking down the runway to the tune of "I Love Rock And Roll," performed by a female guitarist.
The song was perfectly suited to the moment. As Gigi Hadid and Paloma Elsesser smiled and waved to the crowd alongside first-generation Angels like Tyra Banks and Alessandra Ambrosio, Moss maintained her signature cool, floating down the runway in a sheer black lace dress, paired with (by VS standards, modest) black tulle wings and her iconic smoky gaze.
It was one of several standout moments in this high-energy show, which the brand emphasized as a representation of the newly redesigned Victoria's Secret. The show took on a more diverse and inclusive approach. While Moss described past shows as "delightfully over-the-top," she added, "now it's cooler."
What convinced Moss to participate for the first time was the involvement of Emmanuelle Alt, former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, who was brought in to style the 2024 show. Speaking exclusively to Vogue before the event, Moss shared, "She's one of my favorite stylists. Whatever she does is going to be amazing. She has such a good eye, so I felt confident."
Still, despite last appearing on the runway in 2022 for Bottega Veneta, the supermodel admitted she had pre-show nerves. “It’s fun and exciting, but I still get nervous,” she said. “It’s on such a big scale. When I was doing runway shows constantly, I never thought about it; we’d do show after show in the same day. But now, everything is so different. The girls arrive for hair and makeup eight hours before the show.” Familiar faces backstage no doubt helped ease the tension. "Lila’s here!" Moss said. Her 22-year-old daughter walked the runway in pale pink lingerie beneath a fringed jacket. "And a few friends—Joan Smalls, Carla Bruni..."

Having both mother and daughter in the show reflects Victoria's Secret’s aim to reach a broader audience and customer base. Speaking about representation on the runway, Moss said, "Everyone buys clothes, not just 22-year-olds. So it’s good to include more mature and plus-size women, to be more inclusive. Fashion as a whole is definitely in a much better place."Kate Moss Makes Her Victoria's Secret Runway Debut Alongside Daughter Lila Moss
Supermodel Kate Moss, now 50, made her first-ever appearance on the Victoria's Secret runway, joining her daughter Lila Moss for the occasion. Back in the 90s, when the iconic lingerie brand first launched its famous fashion show, Moss was known as the queen of grunge, seen smoking backstage at Isaac Mizrahi shows or walking red carpets with her signature disheveled look, often alongside Johnny Depp.
At the time, Victoria's Secret wasn’t on Moss's radar, despite the spectacle growing into a televised event that attracted millions of viewers in the early 2000s. "Of course, I watched a bit of it,” Moss said, recalling the winged glamazons that defined the show’s appeal. "But I wasn’t really a lingerie girl... I wasn’t a Victoria’s Secret girl."
However, tonight in New York, things took a turn as the brand’s legendary runway show returned after a six-year hiatus. Moss’s presence on the catwalk was a highlight.
Amid notable moments like Doutzen Kroes losing a stiletto and Cher delivering a powerhouse performance, Moss took to the runway solo, emerging from the mist. She strutted to a rock-and-roll anthem performed by a female guitarist, showcasing her cool demeanor in a sheer black lace dress, modest black wings, and her signature smoky eye.
This marked one of several standout moments in what was presented as a revamped and more inclusive Victoria's Secret. Moss herself noted the shift, calling past shows “wonderfully extravagant,” but remarking, "It's cooler now."
Moss decided to participate thanks to Emmanuelle Alt, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, who was brought in to style the 2024 show. Speaking to Vogue beforehand, Moss said, "Emmanuelle is one of my favorite stylists, so I felt in good hands."
Despite recently walking for Bottega Veneta in 2022, the supermodel admitted feeling nervous about her Victoria’s Secret debut. "It’s still exciting, but I’m also nervous,” she shared. “This is on such a huge scale. Back in the day, we would go from show to show in a single day. But now, everything’s changed. The models arrive for hair and makeup hours before the event."

Moss’s 22-year-old daughter Lila joined her on the runway, sporting a pale pink lingerie set beneath a fringed jacket. "Lila’s here, and so are some of my friends—Joan Smalls, Carla Bruni..." Moss shared, delighted to have familiar faces around.
This mother-daughter duo on the runway reflects Victoria’s Secret’s push for broader representation. "Everyone shops, not just 22-year-olds," Moss said, acknowledging the importance of inclusivity. "It’s good to see more mature women and plus-size models. Fashion is definitely in a better place today."
