The earthquake occurred in Malatya's Kale district, and it was felt in Şanlıurfa, Kahramanmaraş, Siirt, Diyarbakır, and Elazığ. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya held a press conference at the Disaster Coordination Center in Malatya to announce the current status.
Yerlikaya highlighted that the earthquake impacted Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, Elazığ, Batman, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Tunceli. He mentioned, "Immediately after the earthquake, we informed our President and swiftly contacted our governors."
Following the quake, a coordinated field survey was launched with AFAD, gendarmerie, police, municipalities, and other relevant institutions. Yerlikaya explained that initial reports were followed by further surveys. He also mentioned that teams from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change were quickly mobilized, with damage assessment commissions set up in Malatya and Elazığ.
Yerlikaya reported that AFAD deployed 55 vehicles, 210 personnel, 3 drones, and 1 manned reconnaissance aircraft to continue operations. He added, "We have received 1,112 calls, 149 of which were for assistance. Minor building collapses occurred in Malatya, Şanlıurfa, and Elazığ, but fortunately, there were no casualties."
