Denver Broncos’ veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds, 29, is recovering from injuries sustained after being shot in the arm and back of the head early Friday morning. According to reports, the incident occurred when Reynolds and another man left a local strip club around 3 a.m. Police say the men were followed by two individuals who fired at them as they were driving away. The Broncos released a statement confirming Reynolds was a shooting victim and received medical treatment for what they described as “minor injuries.”

Shortly after the shooting, Reynolds returned to the team’s training facility and has reportedly made multiple visits since, though he remains on the injured reserve list due to a fractured finger sustained in an earlier game against the Las Vegas Raiders on October 6. Local news outlet 9News reported that Reynolds had returned to the team’s building the same day as the incident, underscoring his resilience.

Denver Police have apprehended two suspects, Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35, in connection with the shooting. Both men are under investigation for attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. The two victims, including Reynolds, reportedly stopped on Interstate 25’s southbound shoulder after the shooting and were later transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

While Reynolds continues his recovery, a Broncos team source described the experience as “traumatic.” The team’s statement expressed respect for the ongoing investigation, deferring further comments to local authorities. Reynolds, an eight-year NFL veteran, is anticipated to resume regular season play as planned, with no additional time away from games expected.
