22 Winter Flowers That Thrive During the Coldest Months of the Year
When the weather outside is cold and frightful, nothing is more delightful than a garden adorned with winter-blooming plants. But it doesnt mean that your garden has to appear bare, brown, and depressing. Many of winter colorful flowers bloom during the darkest, coldest times of the year. Is it possible to grow flowers in the winter? That depends entirely on where you live.
Daffodils: Narcissus is a genus of predominantly spring flowering perennial plants of the amaryllis family, Amaryllidaceae. Various common names including daffodil, narcissus and jonquil, are used to describe all or some members of the genus. Narcissus has conspicuous flowers with six petal-like tepals surmounted by a cup- or trumpet-shaped corona. The flowers are generally white and yellow (also orange or pink in garden varieties), with either uniform or contrasting coloured tepals. These sunny little flowers are usually the first ones to crop up in the early spring, but depending on where you live they may bloom as early as February.
