Bagworm Moths Build Tiny Portable Houses For Themselves That Are Almost Impenetrable (Pics & Video)
Lets talk about tiny houses. These little critters have us beat by a long shot. Using silk to pull together bits of leaves, twigs or other plant materials, bagworm moths craft unique, temporary homes that are the model of efficiency. The best part? Although, the tiny houses bagworm moths build for themselves are very impressive, they are mostly seen as pests, due to their destructive nature against trees, shrubs, and other plants. Interestingly, it's a whole different story on Madagascar. A bagworm species native to the country is bred and farmed on wattle trees, because of how protein-rich their pupae are. Are bagworms harmful? How serious are bagworms? Bagworm larvae grow and feed on trees causing plant damage. These pests can be dangerous and costly to landscaping plants, but they pose no threat to human health.
