During a recent appearance on "Up & Adams," Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski made headlines by revealing he knew one of the New York Yankees fans involved in a controversial incident during Game 4 of the World Series. The fan, identified by ESPN as Austin Capobianco, was ejected after interfering with Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts as he attempted to make a catch.

Gronkowski shared the connection while discussing the play with host Kay Adams. "That guy right there grabbing Mookie Betts’ glove was my friend in college," Gronkowski explained. He noted that Capobianco was a member of the club hockey team at the University of Arizona, describing the group as "absolute maniacs" who were known for their wild antics.

"He is all in for his teams," Gronkowski continued, emphasizing Capobianco's passion for the Yankees. "I remember him talking about the Yankees all the time, how he loves them so much. This incident is just a reflection of who he is—doing whatever it takes to support his team. He is a beauty."

While Gronkowski acknowledged the ejection was deserved, he offered a light-hearted congratulations to Capobianco for making headlines: "I just want to say congratulations for shining when your moment came." He added, "I'm not saying it’s OK… It is definitely unacceptable in the world of sports, but when you’re that big of a fan, that’s what fans do whenever they have the opportunity to do that."

Capobianco later told ESPN that he was aware of the potential consequences of his actions but chose to prioritize his fandom over the rules. "We always joke about the ball in our area," he said. "We’re not going to go out of our way to attack. If it’s in our area, we’re going to 'D' up. Someone defends, someone knocks the ball. We talk about it. We’re willing to do this."
